Through the Fire
A Science Fantasy Short Story
About a year ago, I had a story published in Quill & Flame’s Seasons of Romantasy: Spring anthology, entitled “Through the Fire".”
At 5000 words, this one is a bit longer than the tales I’m used to writing for Havok, which often cap out at 1000 thanks to their word limit. The irony is I’ve probably had chapters in my books that long!
But none of them cover such a large scope of story.
Through the Fire is one of my favourite pieces I have ever written (I probably say that about all of my stories… but I digress). It’s about a post-apocalyptic world, a remnant of humanity clinging to a slice of earth in the sky, and a young man with the unbearable weight of tradition and expectation on his shoulders.
Since I know that it can be daunting to pick up a whole anthology of stories when you really might have time for (or be interested in) one or two, I’ve decided to publish Through the Fire as its own miniature book.
It’s been re-edited and given beautiful glow-up, and letmetellyou, this little 4x6 book is absolutely adorable.
Tomorrow, as a way to celebrate my birthday, you can order it through Amazon in either paperback or ebook format.
I hope you enjoy this ruined-earth-science-fantasy-springtime read!

I love the hopecore dystopia term <3
I’m so stinkin’ excited! (You already know my love for this story. 😍)
